Karen Franklin and Lauren King are co-authors of the book Addicted like Me: A Mother-Daughter Story of Substance Abuse and Recovery. Karen Franklin recounts her own past as a young addict including her struggle with multiple facets of family addiction, including her parent's and her own children's addictions. Lauren King, Franklin's daughter, tells of her own spiral of addiction-from marijuana and alcohol to crystal meth. Franklin and King offer insightful advice from their personal experience and research including early prevention tips, paying attention to warning signs and tough love ideas for addicted teens.

Karen Franklin has 23 years of experience in recovering from the affects of family addiction in her family and is dedicated to helping others in their recovery process.She has first hand experience dealing with teen and young adult addiction with her own children and has first-hand knowledge of solutions that work. Karen works as an Addiction Interventionist for InterventionASASP and is specialized in working with Family Systems affected by Addiction. She has spoken at multiple group events sharing her message of strength, hope and healing.
Lauren King
Lauren has spent the past 14 years living a sober life and has a wealth of experience to share that can help others understand the disease of addiction.She is currently pursuing her degree in Chemical Dependency.Lauren has spent her sober years working tirelessly to help others by passing on the gift of sobriety that she has been blessed with.Lauren has spoken at numerous events to share her journey of addiction, sobriety and hope.
